Moving your site off WordPress
If your site runs on WordPress and you’re tired of updates, plugins and an editor you have to relearn every time, Earl, an AI web developer, can rebuild it as plain, fast code and look after it from then on.
How it works
You give Earl your site’s address. He reads your site the way a visitor’s browser does, from its public pages, so you don’t need to give him a password, install a plugin or export anything. He tells you what comes across and what doesn’t, rebuilds your homepage for you to see, free, and builds the rest once you’ve paid.
What comes across
- Your pages, rebuilt to look as they do now: up to 50 pages, your homepage included, on Starter, and up to 150 on the larger plans.
- Your pictures and files, such as PDFs, copied into your new site.
- Your contact form. A form from a WordPress forms plugin becomes a form Earl builds, with spam protection. A booking or quote form from another company stays that company’s form.
- Your analytics and tracking tags, such as Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel, carried over by their IDs.
- Your old addresses. Links to your old pages lead to their new ones, so bookmarks and search results keep working.
- Your old site itself, kept with your new one so you can download it later.
What doesn’t
Anything a plugin does on a server, Earl lists separately so you can decide about it before you pay. A store with a cart and checkout, a members’ area visitors sign in to, site search and comments need a server, which a simple site doesn’t have. For each, he tells you what people usually do instead.
Your domain and your email
You keep your domain where it is. When you’re ready, Earl shows you a few records to add where you bought it, never your name servers and never your MX (email) records, so your email keeps working. Your WordPress site stays up until you make the final change, so there is no gap.
How long it takes
The free check takes about a minute. Your new homepage takes a few minutes more. The rest of your pages are built one after another once you’ve paid, so a bigger site takes longer, and you can watch them arrive.
What it costs
Moving your site to Earl is free with a year of Starter hosting: $289. After the year, Starter is $29 a month, or $289 a year. A full refund within 7 days of going live, or 14 days of paying, whichever is later. Every plan.
